Direct Reports: Multi-Skilled Engineers, Water Technician, Handyman, Garden & Technical Support Team


Overview:

We’re seeking a hands-on, experienced Technical Services Manager with a strong background in rides maintenance to lead the technical operations at Peppa Pig Theme Park.

 

In this key leadership role, you’ll be responsible for the overall safety, performance, and maintenance of all rides, attractions, building systems, landscaping, AV, and facilities. This is a dynamic, guest-facing role that requires a proactive leader who thrives in high-energy environments and takes pride in delivering seamless, safe, and magical experiences for families.

 

Rides maintenance experience is mandatory—candidates without prior experience in ride operations, maintenance, or themed attractions will not be considered.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities:

Ride & Attractions Maintenance

  • Oversee the maintenance, inspection, testing, and safe operation of all park rides and attractions, including electromechanical systems, animation, and controls.

  • Manage all preventative and reactive maintenance programs in accordance with statutory requirements and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Troubleshoot complex ride systems (including PLCs, VFDs, and electrical controls) and ensure minimal downtime through rapid response.

  • Lead or support ride-related capital projects, upgrades, and seasonal enhancements.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, and compliance checks.

Facility & Infrastructure Operations

  • Manage the maintenance of all buildings, utilities, irrigation systems, lighting, AV, and show technologies.

  • Oversee external contractors and in-house teams for facilities upkeep, groundskeeping, and environmental services.

  • Support the operations team in ride safety training and operational compliance.

  • Monitor and maintain all physical security systems and infrastructure.

Team Leadership & Resource Management

  • Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary technical team—ensuring skills development, scheduling, and performance management.

  • Provide mentorship and training to ensure safe and efficient operations, including ride-specific certifications and emergency response readiness.

  • Coordinate staffing and contractor support to ensure 100% technical coverage during park operations.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across all departments, ensuring compliance with Merlin policies and applicable laws.

  • Conduct and maintain risk assessments, safety audits, and accident investigations as needed.

  • Manage the Permit to Work system and ensure contractor safety performance meets expectations.

Budget & Project Oversight

  • Manage maintenance and CAPEX budgets with a focus on efficiency, forecasting, and cost control.

  • Source vendors and contractors for best-value service and materials, ensuring timely project delivery and ongoing improvements.


What You Bring:

  • Mandatory: Prior rides maintenance experience in a theme park, amusement park, or similar guest attraction.

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems in a complex, safety-critical environment.

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally with 5+ years managing technical or engineering teams.

  • Deep commitment to health & safety as a top priority and an ability to model best practices.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills—calm under pressure and decisive in emergencies.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, manage vendors/contractors, and work within compliance frameworks.

  • Familiarity with CMMS/EAM systems and preventive maintenance strategies.

  • Experience with AV systems, lighting, and show technology is a plus.

  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for delivering world-class guest experiences.


Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field.

  • Certifications in Health & Safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are a strong advantage.

  • Technical certifications (e.g., electrical, mechanical, PLC, ride safety) preferred.
