Position Summary:         

Safety is paramount in everything we do. This role is part of the facilities team, which is an integral part of our Technical Services department. As a member of the facilities team, you will play a major role in the success of our resort and have one of the most important responsibilities throughout the park. You must always provide and guarantee a fun and safe environment for our guests with a focus on safety, ensuring that our equipment and buildings are inspected, maintained, and repaired to the highest levels possible. As a Plumber Technician you will inspect, repair and troubleshoot various plumbing throughout the resort. The Facilities Technician takes ownership in maintaining the overall appearance, functionality, and operation of the facilities under his or her responsibility. You will work under the direction of the Facilities Supervisor and are responsible for maintaining and repairing all plumbing resort wide. All functions are performed in accordance with departmental and LEGOLAND and Merlin’s policies, practices and procedures. Operates power and hand tools to accomplish assigned duties. Must perform mathematical calculations, and read blueprints, when necessary to fulfil duties of the position.  Performs other maintenance functions within Theme Park and assists other maintenance MCs as deemed necessary by maintenance supervision.  

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Prepare written work cost estimates for repairs.
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.
  • Perform complex calculations and planning for special or very large jobs.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
  • Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
  • Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
  • Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
  • Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains.
  • Direct workers engaged in pipe cutting and preassembly and installation of plumbing systems and components.
  • Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.
  • Maintain and trouble shoot storm drains, lift stations, grease traps and backflows.

In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake, and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained.  Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Work in hard to access areas such as uneven terrain and confined spaces.
  • Requires the use of safety goggles, gloves, ear plugs, respiratory devices and all other PPE when appropriate.
  • Frequent lifting of moderate to heavy loads (25 – 70lbs). Required to lift and move loads with uneven weight distribution.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, walking to move about the park site, and interact with employees.
  • Hear with surrounding distracting noises.  Noise level to possibly exceed 85 decibels.
  • Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities.
  • Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site and interact with employees.
  • Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
  • Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.

Qualifications & Experience

Background and Experience:

Requires at least four (4) years of experience working as a plumber in the field or in a facilities maintenance engineering department. Knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used to repair, build and maintain buildings, facilities and mechanical equipment is required. Knowledge of job requirements and type of equipment/tools is essential. Competency in operation of plumbing equipment such as trash pumps, power-feed drain cleaners, submersible sump pumps, lift station equipment, drain cleaning jetters, pipe treading equipment, plumbing line locating equipment and all plumbing hand tools equipment needed etc. Present in a neat, well-groomed professional manner. Requires the ability to perform mathematical and geometric computations of complete assigned work orders. Reads and understands blueprints and possesses excellent knowledge of weights, distances and measurements. The ability to observe and remember details is required.  Must have effective decision-making skills.

 

Education:

High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent education and experience) is preferred. Formal education and trade association courses are also preferred.

Pay Range

From USD $19.27/Hr.
