About This Job:

The People Business Partner position is mid-level individual contributor working in a team environment in the People Department.  This is a highly influential and critical role that links the business and People Operations together to ensure an exceptional employee experience. 

It requires:

  • A highly communicative individual with exceptional interpersonal skills and a level of awareness that stands out amongst peers. 
  • A strong and capable PBP possesses the competence and impact to operate at strategic, tactical, and operational level and can move seamlessly from one to the other as the business demands.  
  • Moderate to advanced skill set and a working proficiency in discipline, gained outside the position but will be enhanced through on-the-job experiences.
  • An ability to make decisions that are non-routine, moderately complex, and can be sizeable in scope.
  • Varied problem-solving ability, requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using knowledge, skills, general precedents, and practices.
  • Responsibility for making decisions that may affect the work of employees within department or function and/or employees within different departments or functions across the Company.
  • Contribution to business and operational decisions that affect the department.

 

What you’ll be doing...

Strategic Business Support 

Operate as a resource to leadership team to align HR strategy to business strategy and decisions.

Acts as a change agent; designs and supports change programs across the business
Is a trusted advisor on people related initiatives and concerns.

Relationship Management

Provides recommendations and guidance to leadership regarding people priorities and the achievement of business objectives.

Escalates service issues and feedback to HR HUB.

People strategy delivery

Supports the design and roll out of HR initiatives and projects across the business.
Analyses trends and metrics to proactively develop and implement initiatives or programs and to identify and prioritize opportunities and threats.

Organizational Design

Partners with the business in department design, structure and roles

Engagement 

Recommends and delivers ad-hoc engagement activities to meet business needs and helps to deliver the HR strategy.

Analyses annual employee engagement survey and other forms of employee feedback data to identify and prioritize opportunities and threats.

Tracks and reports out activities and results.

Talent and Development 

Supports the talent & development strategy for the business.

Provides guidance and input on workforce planning, succession planning and top talent development.

Helps to deliver site specific, North America and Merlin Group training events (non-technical) across the business.

May facilitate and lead training courses on employee relations subject matters. 

Educates and directs employees to the People Portal Learning module.

Helps to drive the culture of learning.

Recruitment

Works as a team with the business to define and develop a workforce plan.
Supports recruitment requiring local support and utilizing the HUB for administrative support.
Supports the recruitment team with regular hiring fairs, on boarding, and general needs.

On-boarding 

Manages and delivers induction/orientation sessions where onsite support is required.
Ensures ongoing and consistent engagement with new starters to enhance retention.

Operational HR support

Manages employee relations concerns requiring local HR support.
Promotes effective use of HR systems and the HUB.

Compliance

  • Collaborates with other PBPs and the HUB on human resources policies, procedures, and programs. 
  • Ensures HR policies and processes are followed compliantly, providing strong guidance to Senior MCs, and Managers to ensure compliance with Federal and State Laws.
    Conducts audits, identifies risks, and finds timely solutions as necessary for all employment related compliance matters.
  • Works closely with the Health and Safety/First Aid team on employee work restrictions and accommodations.  
  • Ensures all required postings are up to date and in compliance.
  • Completes all other duties and tasks as assigned

  • This position requires strong problem-solving skills; has experience in addressing complex employee relations issues; effective communication with employees at multiple levels across the organization; and has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications/Requirements of the Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive generalist experience 
  • PHR/SHRM certification preferred
  • Spanish Speaking preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Degree of Supervision provided to this position by the Head of People
    • General Supervision: The incumbent normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments.
  • Supervision Given by this position to direct reports (if any) – Has authority to hire, develop, appraise, discipline and approve time and attendance for subordinates or makes recommendations for such actions that are generally accepted. This position is an individual contributor.

Work Environment, Hazards & Conditions:

  • This is an on-site role and is not a remote position.
  • General business hours schedule with flexibility to support select hiring events on evenings, weekends, and Holidays with advanced notice.
  • This position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing and standing for at least two consecutive hours. May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Involves lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs. in some departments.  Work typically performed outdoors in various weather conditions.

    • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position sits most of the time.

    • Ability to maintain focus for extended periods, manage stress, make decisions under pressure, handles multiple priorities, work independently and work as part of a team.

Pay Range

Compensation between USD $80,000.00/Yr.-USD $95,000.00/Yr.
