Background and Experience:
- Requires experience in a hands-on design, maker or craft field, with a basic understanding of the practices, tools, and equipment used to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain LEGO models.
- Ability to read and evaluate attraction briefs, reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to read drawings and understand briefs.
- Ideal candidate preferably has a working knowledge of all phases of model production and maintenance for Miniland and sculpted Parkwide models.
- A general of knowledge LEGO elements is required; an in-depth understanding is preferred.
- Ability to observe and remember details, and to follow Model Shop Manager’s directions effectively.
- Preferably a self-driven, proactive employee.
- Professional LEGO model shop experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
- CAD or LEGO software experience is a nice-to-have, not a requirement.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Other Requirements:
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, rotating schedules to include evenings, weekends and holidays to support park operations.
- Must be comfortable with talking to and interacting with guests on a regular basis all while providing a fun and inclusive environment.
- Must be able to react calmly and rationally under pressure or in an emergency.
- Ability to work with guests to teach and explain building techniques in a classroom setting.
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions and navigate varied terrain.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry at least 50 pounds.
- Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
- Must be willing to travel locally and regionally to conduct business, and occasional travel within the U.S.
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ensures internal compliance with maintenance, safety and security procedures by following established ASTM (American Society for Testing & Materials International), NEC (National Electrical Code), NSF (National Science Foundation), OHSA as well as state and local codes.
- Ensure full compliance of policies and procedures set forth within the Health, Safety & Security in the workplace and in line with the Merlin Entertainments Group Policy.
- Understand risk assessments within own workplace and ensure reporting of any new risks to appropriate manager.
- Compliance of safe working procedures for work activities within one’s job role, but cognizant of the effects on others prior to the activity/function.
- In cases of incidents or accidents ensure appropriate reporting is done in a timely manner to the duty manager.
- Operates some basic machine tools, such as drills, blowers, grinding wheel, and belt sander.
- Keep tools, machines, and all other company equipment in good working order.
- Keeps informed and updated on modern techniques and technical methods by attending supplemental training courses, trips, seminars, conventions, etc.
- Maintains good working relationship with fellow Model Shop, Technical Services, and other departments’ MCs.
- Follows LEGOLAND-established employee handbook and safety policies at all times.
