Model Animation & Electromechanical Technician

What if your workday involved animatronics, automation, pneumatics, motors, sound, lighting, PLCs—and giant LEGO® models?

As an Animation & Electromechanical Technician at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, you’ll help bring our LEGO models and guest experiences to life. You’ll be the person behind the scenes making sure vehicles move, buttons trigger surprises, effects fire when they’re supposed to, sounds play, lights shine, and our animated models are ready for guests every day.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves figuring out how things work—and then making them work even better.

You’ll work alongside our Model Shop, Animation, and Technical Services teams to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, design, build, install, and improve electromechanical systems and animated effects throughout the Resort.

What You’ll Do

• Keep LEGO® models, animatronics, vehicles, water effects, air effects, motors, lighting, audio, and other animated experiences operating at their best.
• Perform daily pre-opening inspections and make repairs and adjustments so our models are show-ready before guests arrive.
• Walk through Miniland and other areas during park operations to spot issues and keep experiences running smoothly.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, audio/visual, and automation systems.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, show controllers, ladder logic, automation controls, low-voltage motors, solenoids, linear actuators, and other control systems.
• Respond to service and emergency calls throughout the Resort and quickly troubleshoot issues while keeping guest and Model Citizen safety at the forefront.
• Design, build, modify, install, and repair animation systems and electromechanical components for LEGO models.
• Work with Model Builders to fabricate and repair steel, armatures, supports, brackets, mounting hardware, and other components.
• Operate shop equipment including drill presses, power saws, grinders, lathes, mills, welders, and other tools.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and attraction infrastructure drawings.
• Identify equipment that needs repair, replacement, adjustment, or improvement.
• Source and request parts and components needed to keep animated effects and model systems operating.
• Complete work orders, track inventory, maintain tools and equipment, and document work and system changes.
• Help with model installations, removals, scheduled maintenance, and special projects.
• Keep work areas organized, clean, and safe.
• Stay current with new technology, techniques, standards, and industry practices through training, seminars, and industry events.

You’ll Be Part of the Magic

You won’t be working in isolation. You’ll collaborate with Animation, Model Shop, Technical Services, Operations, and other Resort teams to make sure everything is ready for our guests.

You’ll also work with specialists, suppliers, and other technical partners to solve problems and bring new ideas to life.

Whether you're tracking down an intermittent sensor, rebuilding an actuator, adjusting a mechanism, troubleshooting a PLC, fabricating a bracket, or figuring out why a model suddenly stopped moving—you’ll have a direct impact on the guest experience.

What We’re Looking For

You’re naturally curious, hands-on, and enjoy solving problems. You don't stop at “It doesn't work.” You want to know why it doesn't work—and how to fix it.

We’re looking for someone with:

• Previous experience in maintenance, technical, electromechanical, automation, animation, or skilled crafts roles.
• Experience designing, building, installing, maintaining, or servicing electromechanical, animatronic, or automated equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose problems across multiple systems.
• Experience with PLC systems, show controllers, ladder logic, and automation controls such as OMRON.
• The ability to repair and maintain electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and A/V equipment.
• Knowledge of pneumatic control systems, including linear actuators and solenoids.
• Knowledge of low-voltage AC/DC motors and associated controls.
• The ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
• Experience operating shop equipment such as lathes, mills, welders, grinders, saws, and drill presses.
• Knowledge of LEGO® products and an appreciation for how our models contribute to the guest experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to stay calm, think clearly, and make good decisions when something isn't working and guests are waiting.
• The ability to follow direction, document work accurately, and communicate issues effectively.

Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Safety Comes First

At LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, safety is always the #1 priority.

You’ll follow all Resort policies, procedures, applicable ASTM and NEC standards, state and local electrical codes, and established safety and loss-prevention guidelines.

You’ll also be expected to use tools and equipment only after receiving appropriate training and to promptly report incidents or unsafe conditions.

This Job Is Hands-On—Literally

This isn't a desk job. You'll need to be comfortable:

• Standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and crawling.
• Using your hands for detailed repairs, tools, wiring, fabrication, and mechanical work.
• Lifting and carrying materials and equipment ranging from under 10 lbs. to 100+ lbs., depending on the task.
• Working at heights of up to 70 feet.
• Using ladders up to 30 feet.
• Working in confined spaces and water environments.
• Working indoors and outdoors in changing temperatures, humidity, and on varying surfaces.
• Working around varying noise levels and using required personal protective equipment.
• Driving as required for Resort operations.

The Fine Print

• Attendance is an essential function of the role.
• Flexible scheduling is required, including evenings, weekends, and other hours necessary to support Resort operations.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

There aren't many where you can troubleshoot a motor inside a giant LEGO® model while knowing thousands of guests will see the result of your work that day.
