Position Summary:
Dive into an exciting opportunity at SEA LIFE Orlando! π As a Part-Time Animal Welfare Host, you’ll work alongside our awesome Displays Team to care for a diverse collection of freshwater and marine animals — including elasmobranchs (sharks & rays π¦), fish π, reptiles π’, and invertebrates π¦.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of our aquarium, from feeding and life support maintenance to helping deliver an unforgettable guest experience. π
π Schedule: Part-time (16–20 hours/week)
ποΈ Typical Hours: Varying hours, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with some evening, & holiday shifts
π€ Works closely with our Education Specialist and Displays Team
Maintain the highest standards of animal husbandry, exhibit presentation, and safety throughout SEA LIFE Orlando π§Όπ
Support the goal of delivering a world-class guest experience through engaging displays and animal interactions πβ¨
π½οΈ Prepare and distribute daily diets for over 5,000 animals
π‘ Feed animals, observe behaviors, and record daily data
π Maintain detailed logs of animal health treatments, feedings, and exhibit maintenance
π§ Conduct water quality analysis for exhibit habitats
π£οΈ Interact with guests during public animal feeds and educational presentations
π§½ Assist with other operational and husbandry tasks as assigned
β Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Security protocols
β οΈ Conduct and review risk assessments regularly
π’ Report new or potential risks promptly to management
π§βοΈ Promote safe working practices and ensure team adherence
π©Ή Properly document and report all incidents or accidents and help implement corrective actions
π Minimum: High school diploma or GED
π Preferred: B.A., B.S., or 2-year technical degree in a Life Science field
πΎ Previous experience as a volunteer or intern at a zoo, aquarium, or animal care facility preferred
π Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask
π§ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
π€ Team player with a positive, proactive attitude and a passion for animal welfare
πͺ Able to lift up to 50 lbs
π Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license
β€οΈ First Aid & CPR certifications preferred
